HIP Workshop

The Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population, was pleased to organize the National Workshop on Scaling Up High Impact Practices (HIPs) in Family Planning, co-hosted by ADRA Nepal. This two-day national workshop marked a significant milestone in advancing Nepal’s efforts toward its FP2030 commitment.
Supported by FP2030, FHI360, UNFPA, and USAID, the workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and strategic planning centered around High Impact Practices in family planning. The event aimed to develop actionable strategies to strengthen and accelerate family planning services, particularly for underserved populations, ensuring equitable and impactful progress in Nepal’s family planning initiatives.

Commitment
The Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population and Director, Family Welfare Division both shared the government commitment to reaching the targets for 2030. The Secretary recognized the significant achievements made thus far in family planning but emphasized that much work remains to be done. He urged participants to adopt a broader perspective on planning and the various factors influencing it, highlighting the stagnation in contraceptive prevalence rates and the urgent need for continued efforts to meet the national target of 60%.
